Background to Jack in a Box
Jack
in a Box was started by Angus Bruce in July 2002 with the creation of
Jack in a Box Deli at 186 Bath Road Cheltenham, still a thriving
business today.
Angus has always been in the food industry in
one way or another. After graduating from Gloucestershire College of
Art and Technology, Angus worked for many prestigious 5 star
establishments in the UK, both in the kitchens and front of house.
He moved to Paris and worked in a 1 Michelin Star Restaurant, “Restaurant Beauvillier” in Montmartre for just over a year.
Then
Angus moved to Geneva, Switzerland and worked at “Restaurant Le Cygne”,
a 2 Michelin Star Restaurant which was, at the time, the best
restaurant in Switzerland.
Angus returned to London and ran numerous restaurants both in London, and in the surrounding counties.
His
next venture was to buy and operate 2 independent pubs in Somerset and
North Devon, both establishments boasted 2 AA Rosette standard food.
After
4 years, Angus sold these Inns to return to his home county of
Gloucestershire and open Jack in a Box Deli on The Bath Road,
Cheltenham in July 2002. The Deli fast grew in its popularity and
reputation and within its 1st year of trading was voted the 2nd best Delicatessen in Gloucestershire.
Jack
in a Box now has three coffee shops and its own thriving food
production operation situated in the heart of Cheltenham. Aside from
the production of many homemade products for the shops, such as cakes,
soups, sandwiches and paninis, it also produces its own range of 10
different marinated olives and various enticing antipasti products
which have proved very popular.
Jack in a Box kitchen is also
well known in the business community of Cheltenham for producing
excellent and reliable buffet lunches for all types of business
occasions.
